I started playing guitar at age 8 where I immediately gravitated toward classic rock, and acoustic folk singers. My first performance was in front of 350 people in 3rd grade playing the banjo and singing Pete Seegers version of the Woody Guthrie classic This Land is Your Land. From there I started playing in many other school events plus open mics around the Orange County area. Some of my influences include Chet Atkins, Carl Perkins, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen. Since acquiring my first guitar, I have added many classic vintage guitars and other stringed instruments to my collection. In 8th grade I auditioned for, and was accepted into the guitar conservatory at Orange County High School of the Arts, one of the most prestigious art schools in the country. Throughout high school I continued playing shows and gigs in a couple bands. One was a group comprised of other students and fellow classmates called Detour 91. We played at many great venues and opened for some of the biggest names in the industry. I'm forever grateful for the time I got to spend in that band. I was also in a rockabilly and country band with singer/ guitarist J.P. McDermott for who the band was named. We played all around Southern California, and got to share the stage with many great musicians. That experience really gave me a chance to stretch out on guitar and helped me learn what it means to entertain as well as how to run a band. During all of this I was still attending art school for 7 hours a day, playing shows in the evenings and on the weekends with the two aforementioned bands and even playing small charity gigs with guitar combo's and jazz groups as an ambassador for my school in and around Orange County. In 2016 I moved to Nashville two attend Belmont University where I was accepted to the Commercial Guitar Program. Between my studies I was seeing shows, and meeting new people that would ultimately become some of my best friends in the industry today. Since moving to Nashville I've had so many wonderful opportunities and met so many great people It makes the future seem too bright to even predict what is on the horizon!
Over the years I’ve had some amazing opportunities, such as having the opportunity to open for legendary artists the likes of B.B. King, Leon Russell, Smash Mouth, Toto, Ambrosia, The Yardbirds, Chuck Mead, and many others.I have also been blessed with having been able to record at many famous studios around Nashville including the Quonset Hut, and Columbia Studio A, Oceanway and countless home studios. I have also played at the world famous Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angles as well as House of Blues locations from LA to Chicago, and the Hard Rock in Memphis. More recently, I was given the privilege of headlining at the Nashville Boogie twice in the past few years which was a great honor. I've been busy touring and playing gigs around Nashville, and before COVID took hold I had almost 150 gigs planned for 2020.
I've been busy over the past year getting ready to go back into the studio, and starting new projects with some of my friends in the scene. Lydia Brittan and yours truly have started a new project called "The Westenders." We have been playing shows around Nashville with different forms of this group for about 2 years, but we've decided to finally brand it! So keep an eye out for upcoming gigs, and a new album that will hopefully be released at the end of the year!
In other news, I have been asked to play a song at the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam this August 18th at the Bridgestone Arena! I'm still reeling in disbelief, and cannot wait to play in front of, what will be the largest audience I'll have ever played in front of!
Keep up to date with what shows and gigs I have coming up.
This album came out like a dream! It all started from an instrumental I wrote and had Lydia Brittan write Lyrics to. We were honored to have our good friends Brendan Skwire on bass and Matty Meyer on drums. The session was nothing but fun, and I believe it comes through on these recordings, and we ca;'nt wait to release a full album soon!
